hi, can acid reflux or heartburn cause painful swallowing? i have been taking pepcid ac max strength, is this a good brand to take for this…also, any suggestions or recommendations for the painful swallowing…
thanks
yes first of all do you see a gastric Dr for your problem ,i have it as well they have to run a hose down my throat ever so often for this it st reaches your esophagus so you can swallow easier they also have me on nexium which works wonders sounds like you don’t only have reflux but gurd as well the nexium heels the erosion in your throat
Well Pepcid is a good choice for short teem usage, I would reccommend seeing your family physician for long term medication. You can also try an ols yucky mixture, a cup of water and a tablespoon of baking soda, tastes horrible, but works fast. Good luck.

your gastroenterologist will likely put you on a so-called blocker such as aciphex — one pill daily — and it will likely patch the problem. but if you want to actually CURE the problem and don’t want to pay $1 or more per pill, here is what i did, and i have stopped taking pepcid, zantac, aciphex, and all the rest:
drink cokes and other soft drinks minimally, eat mcdonalds and other junky fatty food like only once a month, quit eating doritoes and other hi-fat snack foods if you regularly eat those. i did this, on my own by the way, just to see if i could stop taking the aciphex, and to avoid the horrible GERD attacks that would keep me up all night.
by trial and error i found out what was causing the damn reflux. now i almost never get it, and i eat pretty much whatever i want, i just am not into crap food like before. and no, i am no veggan or granola-boy. oh and i have 3-4 strong cups of coffee per day too and this has nothing to do with it.
one last thing: i can actually give my self reflux again by drinking a few cokes or eating a bag of chips or eating at burger king. it’s so nice to know definitively what causes this stupid annoying thing.
