I have really bad acid reflux disease?

what can protect my back teeth from stomach acid? It turns my teeth really yellow, my dentist recommened this stuff but it is really expensive, i was wondering if there were any home remedies, or cheaper stuff on the market?

I would recommend Ranitidine at a 150mg dose before bed. I have a few other tips to help you out also.

I am not a doctor, so either way you will want to talk to them, but this is what I have to say as a long time sufferer of Acid Reflux (G.E.R.D.)!

Three part answer information, what not to do, and what to do!

INFORMATION!!!!!!
I have a very severe case of Acid Reflux (G.E.R.D.). I have had to go to the hospital for some of the heartburn that I have had because the pain can become overwhelming or your breathing can be effected. It can be caused by Smoking, Drinking Beverages with caffeine (My case), Drinking Beverages with Alcohol, or can be Hereditary

The good thing about G.E.R.D. is that it can be a temporary thing and can be cured. It is never a permit thing even if you end up with it for the rest of your life it has the ability to be cured.

WHAT NOT TO DO!!!!!!!!
In most cases, stress is a factor to the reflux if you watch what you eat and reduce some of the stress it will help. If you watch what you eat for about a week you should find relief, if you do not then that is when you definitely what to listen to the doctor. Things to watch for are as follows:

Fatty Foods
Citrus Foods
Foods That Contain Grease
Fried Foods
Chocolate (including any Coco)
Caffeine
Smoking
Alcohol
Tomato Based Products
Lactose

WHAT TO DO!!!!
The two foods that I recommend is Black strap Molasses and Raw honey. The apple is better for night time reflux while these will work for just about all of it. What you will do is take about a tsp. of whatever one you chose. Molasses being the better because of strength and nutrition, but must be use to the taste. What the substance will do is stick to the sides of the esophagus and do two things, one is heal and the other is protect.
On the healing end, both substances have a healing property in them, and as they sit on the walls of the esophagus they will heal it. This is also helpful if you have a sore throat in the morning from refluxing.
On the protection end, both substances are high in sugar and when acid that is refluxed comes up to that the sugar will neutralize it and it will not longer be a problem at that point.

I would also look to putting Cinnamon in you diet, it has been know to help with digestion and will help you reduce the amount of acid needed to brake down food, therefore causing you to reflux less.

How about I tell you how to stop acid reflux so you don’t have to worry about your teeth.

I had acid reflux so bad, that I lost one tooth to it and it literally caused another tooth to pill off in layers.

I’d been ont he pills for it for years, but it kept getting worse. Also doing research I found out that those pills were never to be used more hten 3 months, something all doctors forget to mention, becuase they can cause permenant stomach problems where your food won’t leave the stomach, but firments instead.

So I did much research and found out that eating Ginger Root, not the powdered stuff used in Ginger Cookies and not pills. Just the cheap stuff that is in the vegetable department of most grocery stores. Now you can over use it and get a stomach ache. So here is what you do. It works well, but it is hot. I"ve been using it this way for about 6 years now and I’ve had tons of people whose doctors told them it wouldn’t work, go off their prescriptions and try this and have been using it since.

The problem with the prescriptions is that they turn off all the acid pumps in your stomach and you need them on to properly digest food. You just want them to turn down a little, since all acide reflux is, is over production.

Fresh Ginger Root is sold in most Vegetable Departments of stores. YOu want it to be firm. Break a peice open in the stores, they won’t care, they even do it to see if it’s still good. It should be a nice yellow color and not soft, firm.

Then you take a peice about the side of a quarter and just a little thicker. Remove the skin. Then if you like hot stuff, chew it up and eat a meal and you’ll have no problem. IF you can’t stand hot stuff or find it’s too hot to chew. Cut the quarter size peice into small peices, swollow like they are pills.

At first I had to use it every time I ate and before going to bed. NOw, I use it when I know a food will trigger the acid reflux or if I wake up at night having the acid reflux. I get up, eat a piece, wait about 15 minutes to go back to bed and I’m fine all night long. It works well in about 15 minutes if you are actually having the reflux.

Over time, use less as you find your symptoms are getting under control, as they will. The Ginger will actually help your stomach acides to produce the right amount, so you have less and less problems with the gastric reflux.

Don’t eat more and more Ginger. If at first the quarter size doesn’t work, eat another quarter size peice. You eat too much of it and it can cause stomach irritation.

Ginger Root is a MILD stimulant because it has capsium in it. So if you have high blood pressure, watch your blood pressure for a couple weeks to see how it goes. Most people have one or two days were it goes up a little and then goes back down, if anything. I have high blood pressure and mine actually got better once my acid reflux was under control.

    Good luck!

you need to get on medicine for acid reflux, this is the generic for the purple pill you see advertise on tv, (omeprazole) much cheaper works great, get dr to write a prescription for you, if not go to wal-mart look in the section for anti-acids and there are several over the counter meds for acid reflux, just look on the back of package for the main ingredient and get one with the largest amount, i believe its tagament(not sure spelled right) and get a bottle of Maalox too for real bad times.

get a good tooth paste with bakingsoda in it for cleaning teeth.
