over the counter medications for acid reflux?
what are some good over the counter medications that have helped some of you relieve acid reflux? i’ve taken 2 different type of medications for acid reflux recently and neither of them seemed to work.
The medications that have worked best for me are Nexium and Prevacid; they are not over the counter, though. I was on the Prevacid for years but due to insurance had to switch to Nexium and it works just as well. Hope this info helps.

prilosec is probably the most popular otc med for acid reflux. If that’s not working look for anything labeled "antacid"

Personal Opinion;
It took some time, but I have managed my acid reflux by making diet and lifestyle changes. See attached article for ideas. Everyone has different food triggers, for me I had to eliminate all fried foods and rich desserts. I can’t eat anything with whipped cream, for example.
For you, your food triggers may be different. Keep a food diary and figure out the pattern. Once you know which foods trigger it you’ll either cut them out, reduce the amount that you eat, or make sure that you don’t eat them along with other foods that trigger your problem. I was able to stop all medicines this way other than an occasional Maalox. Sure, it is easier to pop a pill, but the meds have all kinds of side effects. Now that I know what I can’t eat I just don’t eat that stuff and I am much happier.
