Acid reflux sufferers, if you’re prescribed Lansoprazole or Omerprazole and after a couple of weeks it isn’t?
doing much…the only relief you get is from Rennies…would you carry on taking them, and take a Rennie when it gets bad, or give up on them and just rely on the Rennies?
i started on omeprozole 7 years ago, they caused all sorts of other small problems, like dizziness, headaches, confusion, then after 5 years they just stopped working so my doctor put me on lansoprazole, which is the same tablet only stronger, then all my other symptoms got worse, i also got urticaria (wasn’t proved it was the tablets but i think it was) they too stopped working so now im on nexium, same tablets only stronger again, now apart from everything else my ears are buzzing all the time and my head feels like it will explode, i convinced myself that if i come off the tablets all together and just eat bland foods i would be fine, so i tried, but the acid become unbearable so i went to see the doctor and he said if i come off the tablets id be at risk of a ulcer or worse because the acid would eat its way into my stomach, rennies only mask the problem and by doing that you might not realise whats happening till the damage has been done, i have a hiatus hernia which makes my acid splash up, you need to find out what is causing yours, demand to see a specialist, because my doctor kept fobbing me off i now have esophageal and stomach erosion’s, im in agony most days and every night, i have no social life because i cant drink alcohol, i cant eat anything nice like chocolate or sweets and burgers, chips, ect, im waiting for a operation to fix my hernia and i cant wait even though it has its risks i cant go on like this, ive suffered for years but if i knew then what i know now i might not be in this state, for the past few nights ive cried myself to sleep because of the pain, you probably know to put bricks or something under your bed and not to eat anything after say 6pm, hope you get sorted but don’t mess about, like i said demand something to be done.
I would go back to the doctor as there are lots of different types of drugs that can help – the ones you mention are only two.
I wouldn’t take them and Rennie’s at the same time – read the leaflet as sometimes its stated to only take the one type.
