Heart burn/ Acid Reflux?
I have been having really bad heartburn lately. I’m almost positive that I have Acid Reflux because I have all the symptoms listed on Webmd such as burning or pain in the chest, feeling as if though you have food or something caught in your throat etc. I’m trying to make an appointment with my doctor today to hopefully get some meds to give me some relief. What I am wondering is, who else has Acid Reflux, how did your doctor diagnose it, what meds did they give you and most importantly did it really make a significant difference? The most annoying symptom is the feeling like you have food stuck in your throught thing, I’m so sick of heartburn, I just want some relief!
ick, I totally misspelled throat up there! I have taken the prilosec otc, while it has helped some, it hasn’t done enough.
Dee,
I have it. Be aware that there’s a bacteria you can get in the stomach, called "h. pilori" for short, that causes it. If it came over you quickly, you might get tested for it. It’s a simple trip to the dr. and a round of antibiotics to clear it up.
It’s very common, so don’t rule it out before you know for sure, especially if you started getting it right away.
Stay on top of it. Living with it causes damage to your esophagus that will eventually result in serious problems.
Don’t eat before bedtime.
Sleep with a thick pillow that will raise your head up slightly if you neck can take it.
Coffee and sodas make it worse. Prilosec is the strongest I’ve found over the counter. Zantac isn’t as strong. Take it every day – not just when you feel bad. It takes a bit of time to work and needs the momentum of being active in your body to do the best job. If you have h. pilori, it will help, but you need to get to the reason and eliminate it there.
Good luck. I know it sucks.

Well im on medication now called Aciphex, which helps…
Take Zantac 150 if you cant get the pills because that really helps as well.
Try not to eat anything acidic like tomatoes, oranges, or grapefruit. It could be the cause of making you so sick instantly.

Overeating usually causes this. Over the counter medicines like prilosec work well if this hasn’t been ongoing for a long time. try it before you go to the doctor and follow directions

You will need to cut out caffeine of all kinds , tea, coffee, chocolate and so on. And make some other diet changes….

My doctor has decided that mine is stress-related, since it only happens when I get stressed out.
For now, it responds well enough to the over-the-counter medicine called Pepcid Complete, though I do have to take one every day for a couple weeks until the tissues have healed.

I have acid reflux and was diagnosed 5 years ago. they put me on Prilosec and it works alright but i found that drinking pickle juice can help immensley. Acid reflux means you dont have enough acid so it runs wild…drinking the pickle juice containing acidy vinegar can help calm it alot.
Hope this helps

I had this , but at the sametime i had a bad gallbladder with gallstones. This is caused mostly due to stress and sedentary life style, in the younger genration who are under work stress , those working in IT industries , this is a common disease. Most people try antacids like gelusil, Eno etc, it gives no relief, stop worrying, meet your doctor, there may be some other underlying disese. take care.
