Recently my sons pediatrician switched him to the alimentum for spitting up and colic… the colic seems to have died down a little..but hes still spitting up excessively.. could this be acid reflux? what re symptoms that would make it obvious?
My daughter had acid Reflux and she spit up alot she would always drench her clothes so we always kept her naked but i switch to Enfamil A.R which is a formula that has added rice cereal in it so its much more thicker and its harder for baby to throw up. And if they throw up it would only be the liquid while they keep in the rice cereal so that they dont lose weight. Ask ur doctor for a sample first to see if it works for ur baby.

Symptoms of acid reflux:
Frequent spitting up or vomiting
Irritability when feeding
Refusing food or eating only small amounts
Sudden or constant crying
Arching the back while feeding
"Wet" burps
Frequent hiccups
Frequent coughing
Poor sleep habits with frequent waking
Bad breath
My daughter had pretty much all of them. I also put her on the alimentum but she refused to eat it. Anything for acid reflux such as special formulas and meds they will not eliminate the spit up they just reduce the acid in the spit up. So yes the spit is normal and will probably continue.
The only thing that helped my daughter with her reflux is a family chiropractor. They also help with colic.
